A Cross Gates couple who first met at a dance club have now been partners for 60 years.
Bill and Vera Parker, of Cold Well Road, Cross Gates, celebrated their diamond wedding with a party at Gildersome Village Hall.

Mr Parker, 89, was a foreman at Burton's Tailoring and after the initial meeting with his wife, Vera, 85, at the city centre dance club he didn't see her again until she also started working there.

They were married at St Philip's Church in Osmondthorpe and held their reception at East End Park Club, where Mr Parker used to play snooker.

They have a son and daughter and three grandchildren.
