A Cross Gates dental practice is passing on the baton to help people in one of the world's poorest countries.
Staff and patients at Church View Dental Care are aiming to raise hundreds of pounds for Bridge2Aid, a group which works with poverty-stricken communities in Tanzania.

Sponsored exercise bike sessions are being held in the waiting room of the practice, on Austhorpe Road.

Riders aim to clock up 620 miles, the
equivalent of crossing Tanzania.

Receptionist Dawn Gilchrist said: "We wanted to make sure we had plenty
of fun – everyone's got into the spirit."

The event was timed to coincide with the arrival at the practice of a baton made by children in Tanzania.

Decorated with drawings and children's names, it is being passed via dental practices on a relay from Scotland to London. Much of Bridge2Aid's work in Tanzania is focused on improving dental services, although it also operates a wide range of education and training programmes.

Stores in and around Cross Gates have backed the fundraising. Send donations to Church View Dental Care, 39-41 Austhorpe Road, Cross Gates, Leeds LS15 8BA.

Cheques should be made payable to Bridge2Aid.
