Temple Newsam Estate is offering a chance to take a walk on the wild side on Saturday.
During the family event, you will be able to learn more about bats, their life, their habitat and how to identify them.

The evening starts with a natural history field talk, then a practice at locating bats with a bat detector.

This device helps pinpoint the movement of the bats by detecting their high frequency noises and can even tell you whether they are feeding or flying.

Each family group shares one detector, and at 9pm the tour begins. There are four different types of bat at Temple Newsam, and with luck you could see or hear the very rare pond bats, two varieties of pipistrelle and noctules.

Tickets cost £7.50 adult and £5 child, which must be pre-booked.
