His addiction to breaking world records is such that Temple Newsam's own Robin Simpson has diagnosed himself with 'Endurance Record Fever'.
The Leeds quantity surveyor is already being called 'the world's fittest athlete' for pushing his mind and body to the limit.
Not content with being a champion in nine disciplines, the dad-of-two attempted to write his 10th entry into the record b
ooks.
Robin holds the one-hour speed fitness record – speed marching 10km in jeans and army boots carrying a 4lb back pack, shoulder pressing 35,925kgs in an hour and completing 6,071 roundhouse kicks in an hour.
So when he was asked to take on the record for the most box steps in 60 minutes at the Yorkshire International Business Conference in Harrogate, it was just like another day at the office.
Robin, 30, equalled the record of 4,135 steps with 20 seconds still on the clock and raised the new standard to 4,161.
He said: "It was tough going, but I felt great afterwards because the adrenaline was still pumping. I felt absolutely shattered a couple of hours later."
So after taking his records tally to double figures, is it time for the former East Leeds and Keighley Cougars Rugby League player took a well earned rest?
Not a bit of it. In mid-July Robin will be attempting the one-hour mixed event record, which includes 15 minutes each of one-arm press ups, burpees with tuck jumps, squat thrusts and alternate leg squat thrusts.
By September he will be tackling a 19-hour record which could see him officially crowned the world's fittest athlete.
Next March he plans to smash the record time for a decatriathlon – 10 ironman-length triathlons totalling a 24-mile swim, 1,120-mile bike ride and 262-mile run. The time to beat is a mere 198 hours non-stop!
Just for fun, he also plans to swim the Channel with his two brothers in August. 2009, followed by a 3,044-mile solo cycle ride across America in under 12 days.
His 20-plus hours a week training are on top of his 45-hour working week as well as being a dad to daughters Leigh, nine, and Evy, seven, and husband to Lisa.
Robin is also hoping to start a second career as author of a fitness book for young families. He said: "Things are a bit hectic and I suppose one day soon it will have to change.
"But I am getting a lot of support and encouragement and am currently in the process of opening my own family fitness centre."
He is keen to make contact with any families with young children who could be case studies for his new project.
He added: "There are all kind of fitness guides out there already, but none seemed to be aimed at helping families stay fit together.
"There are all kinds of ways it can be made fun so mums and dads and kids can exercise together.
"There are lots of games I play with Leigh and Evy where they are having a great time without realising they are keeping fit.
