Extended opening hours and late night shopping kept people in the malls for longer, prompting the Arndale Centre to put on a range of events to entertain the burgeoning crowds.
Mr A. Sykes, the Centre's first Manager, encouraged an exceptionally wide range of activities and promotions in the mall, adding masses of extra value to the shopping experience.

Events included displays by newspapers, hairdressers and local artists, car shows, fashion shows, even boat shows!

In the run-up to Christmas there was a Carol Singing event, drawing tremendous crowds from all around the local area.
