New police data, obtained by the Yorkshire Evening Post under the Freedom of Information (FOI) ACT, shows which crimes were most prevalent while we were told to stay at home to save lives. These were the 10 most commonly recorded crimes in West Yorkshire from March 23 to April 23. All images are for illustrative purposes and do not represent a specific incident or location.
1. Violence without injury
6,316 violent crimes without injury recorded. This includes but is not limited to: Threats to kill, cruelty to children, assault without injury, racially or religiously aggravated assault without injury, kidnapping, modern slavery
2. Public order offences
2,490 public order offences recorded. This includes but is not limited to: affray, violent disorder, drunk and disorderly behaviour, rioting
3. Criminal damage
1,826 crimes recorded.This includes but is not limited to: destroying or damaging property, threatening to destroy or damage property
4. Violence with injury
1,700 violent crimes resulting in injury. This includes but is not limited to: assault with injury, endangering life, attempted murder, racially or religiously aggravated assault with injury
5. Other theft
1,229 crimes of 'other theft' - not including theft from the person, vehicle or bicycle-related theft, robbery, burglary or shoplifting
6. Vehicle offences
1,107 vehicle offences. This includes but is not limited to: vehicle theft, theft from a vehicle, unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle, interfering with a motor vehicle
