John Smeaton Leisure Centre is set to be the base for a new athletics club aimed at young children.
Crossgates Cougers Athletics Club is due to launch on Wednesday, April 9.
Every Wednesday girls and boys aged between 8-12 can take part in the club that will be run by experienced UK athletics coaches.
The sessions, which run from 4.30pm to 5.30pm during term time only, will take young people through a range of disciplines.
These will include running, jumping and throwing - skills that can be applied not only to athletics but a range of other sports.
