Temple twice surrendered a two goal lead to a Rothwell outfit who refused to roll-over.
The game opened with Rothwell mounting a determined attack down the right and it took defender Phil Hudson to clear their first shot off the line with the Temple keeper beaten. Temple gradually took over the game and Matt Ibson saw a fine solo effort scream across the goalmouth.
Two minutes later, after excellent work on the left by Richard Lappage, Matt Ibson met the cross and netted on the second attempt. On the very next attack tricky Richard Lappage was fouled in the box and Ash Pollard extended the Temple lead from the spot. All was going well for temple with an attack that looked sharp and a defence solid.
On 20 minutes Temple right-back, Phil Hudson, was injured in a crunching tackle and carried from the pitch. The atmosphere turned angry and Temple were guilty of letting their emotions take control. Ash Pollard saw a header scrape the wrong side of the post and Rothwell broke away to reduce the deficit after sloppy defensive work on the Temple left. Half-time 2-1
After the break Temple's control faltered and, although they extended the lead from a fine Ash Pollard goal, their play became fragmented and the midfield superiority dwindled. Rothwell struck with two goals in two minutes to level the score at 3-3 and so it remained until the final minutes when Temple resistance collapsed altogether and a now dominant Rothwell scored the winning goal.
Temple goalscorers: Ash Pollard (2), Matt Ibson.
