Ben 'Hunter' Hunt, 43, bought the crest after spotting someone selling it on social media.
It had been taken down from Elland Road's East Stand when the entrance underwent a recent expansion.

The inside of his house is already a makeshift Leeds United museum, full of match-worn shirts, stocking tabs, boots and special one off items.
The badge was sitting inside the house until Ben got the go-ahead from wife Leigh, who is from Horsforth, to hang it outside.
Dad-of-two Ben said: "The missus loves it as it’s now a security light because my mate, Andy Williams, fitted a motion sensor on it.
"It took us both two days to get it up and working.

"The Lyman family that live opposite are also Leeds fans."
And despite the badge adorning Elland Road, it turns out the person who made it was not a Leeds fan.
Ben said: "He must’ve been a Chelsea fan, so left his mark with a ‘CFC’ inside, which made us chuckle."
Postman Ben was the main contributor to the recent Leeds United Supporters' Trust centenary exhibition in Leeds city centre, and has even featured on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow with directors' seats that were taken from the West Stand.

He said: "Items I’m missing and desperately wanting to add to the collection are the one-off players' centenary shirts worn versus Birmingham.
"I also need an all yellow Burton away shirt, any players shirts or tracksuits from the seventies or earlier, and to be honest anything Leeds that’s a one-off or of top shelf quality item that needs to be in a museum."
