Wakefield fined for breaching RFL concussion rules
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have been fined £1,000 for breaching Rugby Football League operational rules on concussion.
The club have been punished for failing to remove captain Danny Kirmond from the field for assessment during their 18-16 Super League win at Widnes last month despite showing signs of concussion.
Since the start of the 2015 season, teams are allowed an extra free interchange in the event of a player suffering an injury that requires a pitch-side concussion assessment. The rule was introduced to safeguard players against the unseen dangers of concussion.
